How to control your soccer ball

How to control your soccer ball The types of soccer ball control are receiving and trapping. The soccer term Receiving is all about directing the soccer ball away from the body. Trapping is what happens when players stop a soccer ball using their feet. When receiving the ball, you normally want to make contact with the upper or mid part of the soccer ball, you then hit it, not to hard, in the direction you need the ball to go. Receiving is most often done when running and needing to move the soccer ball into an open space on the field. When the ball is traveling too fast to successfully direct it to where you need it to go with a light touch, you may end up trapping the ball with your feet. Trapping allows you to take a ball and exert more control over the direction you want it to go. Watch the pros and soccer stars, they use this technique often. Regardless of your technique, you always want to stay as relaxed as possible, a stiff foot will not move with the ball as well as if you are loose. Stay focused, face the direction the soccer ball is coming from, put your foot right in front of the ball and try to cushion the ball by moving your foot back a bit before contact. Takes practice, but always have fun... remember, soccer is a game.
